Rottnest Snorkel

After operating dive shops in Vanuatu and Busselton, the Rottnest Snorkel team knew they wanted to help people experience the beauty of Rottnest Island in a way that was accessible for all. Having won the tender to run the first snorkel tour out of the island, Rottnest Snorkel enlisted the help of Dilate, through a project partnership with 23 Fathoms, to create a website that is fun, inviting and brings the unique experience online.

Their Challenge

It was important that the website not only showcased Rottnest Snorkel’s tours, but provide information about the island’s history, marine conservation efforts and connection with local aboriginal heritage.

With over 411,572 visitors annually to Rottnest Island, they wanted to showcase this popular Perth tourism destination as a fantastic place to explore and snorkel.

The design and website needed to be fun, family friendly and evoke excitement for tourists, both interstate and international, to the island to jump onboard and snorkel with them.

Our Solution

Working together in a project partnership, we created the designs for the entire website and 23 Fathoms developed and built it on their side.

Our designs brought in functionality such as live weather of the island and mobile-first designs for users booking tours seamlessly.

We ensured the designs followed elements from Rottnest Snorkel’s brand style guide, such as fonts and colours, while also encompassing the joys and fun of snorkelling. We also utilised an online WA tourism gallery for photos to showcase the beauty of the island in its true form.
